We have all experienced a time, or maybe many, when we aren’t so motivated to do anything, those times when you just want to stay in your pajamas and watch Tv all day, trust me its normal because we are human, and we are flawed. This becomes a problem when you want to make it your daily routine or several times during the week, leaving all responsibilities pilling up, so in this post I want to share with a few but effectives ways to stay motivated. Staying motivated is important not only that you get things done but also because it builds your confidence, and we all know confidence goes a long way.
So, lets get into it, here are my 5 tips to staying motivated.
- Set a goal
Setting a goal is an essential part of success, I believe we all have goals, whether said a louder or just an idea that lingers. Write down your goals in a note pad, journal or piece of paper and place it in a place you mostly spent a lot of time, your office for example, go through your goals (twice a week) often to remind you why are working and where you are going. You’ve heard the saying “people with goals succeed because they know where they’re going”
- Discover what motivates you
What motivates you to work hard, looking up to someone, reading books about successful people, the feeling you get after achieving your to-do list. Whatever it is use it to motivate you on days you feel out of it. I will tell you one of the things that motivate me, I look at my passed achievements and from then on, I tell myself that if I did it once I can do it again.
- Create a plan
This applies to long term, weekly or daily goals. You want to create a realistic plan, break down your ideas in time lines that will be practical and not too tough to execute. I find that planning having a to-do list helps me focus on what’s important that day and eliminates any distractions. Creating a plan keeps things within your power but be ready for any changes that might occur.
- Don’t compare yourself to others
“The only person you should try to be better than is the person you were yesterday”. Comparing your progress to others will simply wear you down, try and focus on your own progress, you often need to remind yourself that nobody is perfect, this will motivate you to achieve your goals at your own timeline. Instead of comparing, try to find inspiration from people you admire instead.
- Believe in yourself
It doesn’t matter how awesome yours goals or ideas are, if you don’t believe that you CAN achieve them, its all pointless. Believing in your capabilities not matter the circumstance will definitely get you motivated. Be fearless and believe in yourself.
